Dive Instructor Training

In 2012, PSDSA obtained its Instructor Trainer License.  The Academy is now able to “train the trainer” for those departments who wish to have their own in-house water operational instructors.

The reasons departments come to PSDSA for instructor training are obvious.  Our staff focuses on teaching and executing safe water operations and top-notch, individualized training to department instructors. We are completely neutral in our assessments and we encourage the finest efforts from our students.

Public Safety Dive Services Academy (PSDSA) offers several Dive Instructor courses including: ERDI I, ERDI II, Dive Tender and ERDI Supervisor Courses.

Our Instructor Development Course (IDC) is approximately 30 hours in length followed by an Instructor Evaluation Course (IEC) of 6 hrs. Costs vary depending upon the specific course.

Non-dive instructor’s courses include: Contaminated Water Operations, Dry-suit Operations, Full Face Mask Operations, Ice Diving Operations and Dive Tender Operations.

Public Safety Dive Services Academy (PSDSA) also offers several Public Safety Specialty Courses for instructors including: Swift Water Instructor I, Swift Water Instructor II, Ropes and Rigging, Surface Ice Rescue I, Surface Ice Rescue II and Underwater Crime Scene Investigations courses.

All instructor candidates must hold a current CPR certification and first aid card from a nationally recognized agency. You must also obtain current professional liability insurance.
